On the evening of November 6, 2008?

I don’t either.

Josh Jahn probably would not remember this day either if it had not been for the actions of one person.

About 8pm that day Josh’s wife Amanda was driving their minivan along with their two children, Ryan (3) and Kaitlyn (11 months), south down IL Route 47 just north of Dwight, IL, when a drunk driver blew a stop sign and crashed at full speed into the driver’s side of the van. The force of the impact caused the van to roll over several times and it ended up in a cornfield. All three were killed.

I see this sign at that intersection two times every week when I drive by. Part of me is sad, part of me is angry, part of me goes out to a young man my age who lost his entire family in a few short minutes. I realize that it is the grace of God that keeps us every time we go out.

The drunk driver in this case had multiple DUI convictions prior to this event. They recieved a 24 year prison sentence for reckless homicide.

Nothing can bring Mandy, Ryan, and Kaitlyn back to Josh. But maybe if someone sees this and decides not to drive drunk, or keeps a friend from driving drunk, someone else will be spared the agony of the phone call telling them their wife and kids were killed senselessly by someone who had no business driving.

The testimony in this story is that Josh stated to CBS news in Chicago that “God is holding me up.” You can read the entire story if you wish here.

THE CRAZY BUNKHOUSE

The crazy bunkhouse took place by the Pacific ocean. one day there was a terrible huricane. The gies in he bunkhouse did’nt know it. A window burst open. A gie who was maing a kite flew outside with his kite. Then with a boom the chimny fell off. A gie ran out to get it. He stood on it and shouted, wind stop! Then the house went up. then it went down. The gie went to investegate. A gie had his foot stuck in a bell. Another had his head coming from the ceiling. another ones feet were coming out of a chair. The other gie hand was stuck in the doornob

Written by a young man named Leeland Mooring, and recorded by Michael W. Smith.
Leeland is 20 years old and has been writing songs since he was 11. Although his personal band has turned to a more rock style recently, he has written some beautiful worship songs. As I heard this song on the radio one night as I was driving home, I was just struck by the awesomeness of God and the insignificance of me next to Him. Truly we must make it our goal that when people see us they see Christ and not ourselves.

This made us laugh. And then we watched it again and laughed some more.
